Our process

From funding to front door, step by step.

Building a specialist home can feel daunting. Here's how the journey works — what happens at each stage, and where we fit in.

  1. Funding & eligibility

    First, SDA needs to be in the participant's NDIS plan. Eligibility and funding are decided by the NDIS and the participant's planner — often with input from occupational therapists and specialists. This step isn't done by us. If SDA is already in the plan, you're ready to talk to a builder; if not, your support coordinator can help you pursue it.

  2. First conversation

    We meet you (and your support team) to understand the participant's needs, goals and the SDA design category in the plan. We talk through location, budget, timelines and whether a new build, renovation or modification is the best fit — all in plain language.

  3. Design & documentation

    We develop a design to the relevant SDA design category, drawing on occupational therapist recommendations and your SDA provider's requirements. You see the plans, ask questions and shape the home before anything is locked in. We prepare the documentation needed for approvals.

  4. Approvals & agreement

    We arrange the necessary building approvals and certification, and confirm a clear, fixed scope and quote. Everyone — participant, family, coordinator and provider — knows what's being built, for how much, and by when.

  5. Construction

    We build, with one accountable point of contact and regular progress updates. Because access and support features were designed in from the start, they're built properly — not retrofitted at the end.

  6. Handover & support

    We walk you through the completed home, hand over documentation, and make sure everything works as intended. We coordinate with your SDA provider so the home is ready for enrolment and move-in, and we're here for any follow-up.
